The brisket and jalapeno cheddar sausage was awesome. Super legit. You will pay for great BBQ! They definitely know what they are doing at this place.
It's our first time here, we had originally seen it on YouTube. We decided to go here since we were in the area. From the outside, it doesn't look that much. I slowly realized everyone that had parked around me was headed to the same place..Ray's Texas BBQ. We just patiently stood in line and looked around. They had racks of wood on shelves on the left side. You can smell the bbq aroma. A lot of people had placed online orders, and some seemed like regulars. It was overall a good vibe. Just ignore the male Nancy's in line quick to criticize because they're from Texas. There was decor everywhere, that I couldn't help but look around. It definitely kept me occupied while in line. When it was my turn, almost everything was sold out. I didn't have my hopes up too high because it was a holiday. I did see a paper by the cashier that listed what items were sold out. I was just happy they were open and had a beef rib for me. The very pregnant lady who took my order was super nice and helpful. She even took the time to make small talk with me. Usually, people always just try to rush you like next... We ordered: 1. Beef rib - At first, I thought I was just getting one, but I think I ordered what they had left. They charge you by the weight. This was a meal on its own. It was so tender and juicy. It wasn't greasy like other places. The seasoning was perfect that you didn't need bbq sauce. You just need bread or mac n cheese to go with it, maybe even just white rice. 2. USDA Prime Brisket Burrito w/ jalapeno cheddar cheese sausage - This is pricy but more than enough to feed 2 people. The brisket was tender, and jalapeno cheese sausage was juicy and flavorful. The mac and cheese just tied it all together. It was literally a portable plate. But why walk and not savor this yummy goodness? 3. Mac and cheese - This was so yummy you can eat it by itself. 4. Fried rice - This had chunks of meat in it. This wasn't the fried rice I was expecting. It was kind of slimy, like, not the dry fried rice I was expecting, like from a Chinese restaurant. This was more of a Latin kind of rice with bits of tomatoes. I didn't care for this too much. It just goes through off the flavors instead of complimenting it if that makes sense. 5. White bread - not sure if they give this with every order, but I had requested it to cut down the greasiness of the meats and kind of break it up. 6. Strawberry kiwi lemonade - Not too tart, but it was refreshing on such a hot day. I was hoping to try the chicharon (pork belly) and cheerwine. Sadly, both were sold out. It was entertaining to watch 2 people in line to tease each other and say, "Save me at least one jalapeno cheddar sausage, I got a family to feed too." They didn't know each other, but I'm sure the guy low-key meant it. I learned it's best to order online. By the time I was waiting for my food, I watched them put up a "sold out" sign on the front door. It was still early, but I guess they sell out fast. Once they are sold out, they are done for the day. I was hoping I would be able to come back this weekend, but sadly, I wasn't able to. I'll be back soon, for sure. My advice is to come early or order online. It was nice to see the two brothers I watched on YouTube actually working and helping customers. I highly appreciate that it wasn't for show like some places.
Heard a lot about this place and was on my list to try one day. Luckily was in the area for a couple errands so I decided to stop by. When I first walked in I was greeted friendly, asked if it was my first time there and then proceeded to walk me through the menu. I got the half and half bowl, is a bit pricey but BBQ is always pricey and for the serving they give you here I think it was fairly even. Taste was great! Meat was tender and flavorful, would definitely return if I'm back in the area
I LOVE this spot. The hours aren't convenient and neither is the parking or seating, but holy $#!& the food is incredible! My favorite is the Pittmaster sandwich. When ordering be sure to let them know if you like your cuts of meat with more fat on them or lean, they'll adjust the cuts for you. Also, the fresh made strawberry kiwi lemonade is FIRE. Enjoy!
I had the tri-tip sandwich with some chili beans and a homemade kiwi lemonade. I was quite delicious.
Delicious AF. Finally got the chance to try this spot out. Put in an order online on a saturday morning and rolled right over. I've gotta say the saturday only chicharrone pork belly was a life changer for me. It was smoked to perfection. I've never seen smoke lines like you'd see on a brisket on pork belly! And to top that off the skin is so damn crunchy and full of flavor this is now a thing i make all friends that come visit LA try. Its that good. This is one of the single most best bites in all of LA . Brisket: I went with the fatty, and fatty it was. Juicy and full of flavor. Pairs perfectly with their in house bbq sauce. Pork Ribs: Fall off the bone juicy. I will say these lacked the same punch of flavor as the brisket and the chicharrone pork belly, so I needed to sauce them up a bit with the bbq sauce, but overall the juicy fall off the bone nature of these ribs were definitely appreciated. Easily shoots to the top BBQ spot in LA for me, and if you havent tried this place yet or have been putting it off then its time for you to finally come thru. Come here!
This is THE spot for some legit bbq. So rarely is brisket done well...and Ray's didn't let me down. Was greeted with a lovely hello and the service was great! Small little restaurant with all the bbq vibes. Can't believe I forgot to post this a while ago. I think I'll be in the area tomorrow and plan to go grab some more. Soooo good
Went to Ray 's Texas BBQ in Huntington Park for some Take-Out BBQ. This is a family owned restaurant. They use a wood smoked style with pepper. When I got there they were already sold out of Pork Ribs. Ordered 2 lb. Of Brisket (Moist) and 2 lb. Of Pulled Pork. Also got large orders of Coleslaw and Potato Salad. It comes with white bread, pickles, and onions. The gave me some of their sauce. It was spicy and a little sweet. Use sparingly. Both meats were smoky and moist. The Brisket was my favorite. Everyone was super nice and friendly. No restrooms for customers. They have a shared lot with other businesses. Rating: 4 Stars
Great brisket! Really good, black peppery flavor and super tender. The bbq sauce pairs very well with it - it's sweet, spicy, and tangy all at once. A bit pricey but worth it. I also had the beans and the coleslaw. Wish the beans were a bit more flavorful but they were good and had chunks of meat. Coleslaw was great and tangy! Place is small with little seating but has a picnic feel to it. Service was great and fast. What would make it better is if they had more platter combos, poultry options, and collard greens. Still a spot you gotta try!
Ray's BBQ specializes in Central Texas style BBQ and renowned food critic Jonathan Gold praised brisket from Ray's BBQ. Ray's BBQ used to be an underground backyard pop-up and opened a brick and mortar location in 2014. Unfortunately the original owner Ray took his own life in 2022 and both of his sons & his wife continue his legacy. The restaurant proudly serves Brandt Beef from farm to fork. [Parking]: The strip mall parking lot isn't big and can be packed, but I was able to find few available spots on Saturday at noon. [Amenities & service]: No public restroom and friendly service. Customers order at the cashier counter and the staff will bring orders to customers' tables. No outdoor tables for this restaurant. [Menu]: Customers can order meats by the pound/the half pound (USDA Prime Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Half-Rack Memphis Style Pork Ribs) or order one of their signature brisket/pulled pork sandwiches. Sides (Mac & Cheese, BBQ Rice, Beans, Potato Salad, and Coleslaw) come in either 16 oz or 8 oz. *** Brisket Sandwich Made w/ USDA Prime Brisket ($20.99): This place has one of the best BBQ sauce I have ever had - tasted slightly on a sweeter side but also got a bit of heat. Absolutely amazing brisket and smoky BBQ smell was off the chart. It reminded some of great BBQ I had when I had visited Texas many years ago. Mac & Cheese (8 oz for $6.99): Very savory mac & cheese and absolutely worth ordering. *** No doubt this place sells one of the best brisket sandwiches in Los Angeles County. Is this one of those BBQ places deserves a special drive for BBQ lovers who lives in Southern California? Absolutely yes!
